UK Finance appoints new head of mortgages

UK Finance – the new trade body for the finance and banking industry – has appointed Jackie Bennett as its new head of mortgages.

Bennett will join the organisation in February 2018, and will be responsible for leading its mortgage policy development.

Bennett is currently deputy head of compliance at The Northview Group.

She was previously head of policy at the Council of Mortgage Lenders, one of the bodies integrated into UK Finance in July this year. Bennett worked for the CML from 2001 to 2014.

She has also held roles at the Association of British Insurers and the Home Office.

UK Finance chief executive Stephen Jones says: “With a long history at the CML, Jackie brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise of UK mortgages which I know will prove to be a real asset to the UK Finance team.”

Bennett adds: “Housing rightly remains at the top of everyone’s agenda and I’m really looking forward to helping lenders support this whilst delivering the right results for consumers.”

UK Finance was formed on 1 July this year, and integrates six trade associations: The Asset Based Finance Association, the British Bankers’ Association, the Council of Mortgage Lenders, Financial Fraud Action UK, Payments UK and the UK Cards Association.
