Sainsbury’s Bank signs Openwork as first network

Sainsbury’s Bank for Intermediaries has signed its first network distribution deal, with Openwork.

The lender carried out the first phase of its launch with Legal & General and London & Coiuntry Mortgages.

Sainsbury’s Bank sells residential purchase mortgages and remortgages.

Sainsbury’s Bank head David Buxton says: “We’re delighted to have a network of Openwork’s scale and standing working with us. Their professional advisers will help the Sainsbury’s customer match their goals with the mortgage that’s right for them.”

Openwork mortgage proposition director Paul Shearman says: “I am delighted to be adding Sainsbury’s Bank to our panel, which delivers the very best of the UK’s lenders.”

The bank re-entered the mortgage market in the first half of 2017, after a 12 year absence.

Health Shield has strengthened its position in the cash plan market, according to the latest Laing & Buisson report, increasing its market share by income from £27m in 2012 to £29m in 2013.
