Newcastle BS appoints new chief financial officer

Newcastle BS has appointed David Samper (pictured) to take on the role of chief financial officer.

Samper, who has over 20 years’ experience as a chartered accountant, has previously worked at RBS, Ulster Bank, EY and most recently at Sainsbury’s Bank for nearly a decade as its interim chief financial officer and financial controller.

He will join the society’s board with immediate effect.

Samper says: “I am delighted to have joined Newcastle Building Society at such an exciting time as we shape the next strategic chapter of this business.

Newcastle Building Society chief executive Andrew Haigh comments: “I am delighted to welcome David to our senior executive team, who will join the board of the society with immediate effect.

“He brings first class strategic financial management expertise and will make a significant contribution to helping our Society to grow and thrive against a backdrop of intense competition and economic uncertainty.”

Newcastle Building Society chairman Phil Moorhouse adds: “David will be a great addition to the Newcastle BS Board as an executive director and I look forward to working with him as the society seeks to build on its success and progress.”
