Monmouthshire BS appoints new CEO and COO

Monouthshire Building Society has appointed Will Carroll as chief executive officer.

Carroll  (pictured) has served as interim chief executive at the society since James Bawa stepped down in June, after just seven months in the role.

Carroll previously held the role of finance director at the society and has been a member of the board for eight years.

Chairman Haydn Warman says: “Our financial strength continues to be the bedrock of the Society and Will has played a significant role in preserving that strength during his tenure as Finance Director. He has already taken the lead in developing the Society’s strategy and transformation programme.

“The Board is confident that under his leadership the Society will continue to prosper in the future as a strong and independent building society.”

The society has also appointed Dawn Gunter to the newly created role of chief operating officer.

Gunter joins from Sainsbury’s Bank in Scotland where she initially led the operational design of their mortgage business moved on to lead the design and deliver of the personal loan and credit card operation.

She has also worked for Principality Building Society, Legal and General and the Bank of Scotland.

Gunter says: “The Society has an ambitious transformation programme ahead that will strengthen member engagement, expand distribution and create an exciting future for colleagues and customers. This really is a great opportunity for me to be part of the Society’s journey.”
