Leeds BS extends Leeds Rhinos sponsorship deal

Leeds Building Society has extended its sponsorship of the Leeds Rhinos rugby league team until the end of the 2017 season.

The lender has sponsored the team for the past eight years, during which time the Rhinos have been crowned Carnegie World Club champions twice and rugby league Grand Final winners on five occasions, most recently in 2012. The team has also won the league leaders shield and Challenge Cup in that time.

Since the sponsorship agreement began, Leeds BS has contributed more than £440,000 towards junior rugby development and various community programmes run by the Rhinos.

Leeds BS chief executive Peter Hill says: “We are delighted to be extending our sponsorship of the Rhinos for another two years. We share so many values – our passion for success, our team spirit and our commitment to the communities we serve.

“Leeds Rhinos have enjoyed their most successful period in history, via their golden generation, with Leeds Building Society proudly on the front of the most popular shirt in Super League.”

Leeds Rugby chief executive Gary Hetherington adds: “Leeds BS has certainly played a major part in our success when you consider that we have won nine major trophies in the eight years they have been our main sponsors.”
