3mc has received more enquiries by September than all of 2012

Mortgage club and packager 3mc says it has already received £1bn of mortgage enquiries during 2013, compared to £989m during the whole of 2012.

3mc director Doug Hall attributes the increase in enquiries to the improving housing market.

He says: “2013 has been an excellent year for 3mc. Not only has our new business pipeline been helped by a gradual upturn in both the economy and the housing markets, but we’ve also made a number of enhancements to the services we provide for brokers, which has fed through into higher volumes of new business.

For example, we’ve significantly enhanced our website to enable brokers to more easily compare and contrast lenders products against each other. We’ve also launched a number of exclusive mortgage deals and helped new lenders such as Magellan enter the market.”

Hall believes the boost in business is likely to continue into 2014, with the introduction of the second part of Help to Buy, the £130bn government-backed mortgage indemnity scheme.

He says: “The signs are very encouraging for 2014. Schemes such as Help-to-Buy will stimulate the market further and hopefully consumer confidence will return as the economy strengthens. We’re feeling very optimistic about the year ahead.
