Boxing promoter Barry Hughes in court over mortgage fraud

Boxing promoter Barry Hughes and his wife Jacqueline have appeared in court to face charges of mortgage fraud.

According to reports, the pair appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Tuesday to face allegations that they lied on mortgage applications ahead of a trial in October.

They are alleged to have lied about Mrs Hughes’ income in several mortgage applications for amounts totalling almost £1.5m.

The couple also face charges for profiting from the sale of the properties they bought, and Mr Hughes is accused of buying a car and watch with some of the profits.
