Scottish Widows has appointed Chris Torkington as IT director.
Torkington will be responsible for directing and controlling Scottish Widows' IT division to ensure that all IT development meets the company's current and future needs and provides a compliant and secure technology environment.
He joins Scottish Widows from his current role as chief executive of Rural Regeneration Cumbria, England's first rural regeneration company. He set up the company in 2003 where it now covers a £275m programme of work.
Prior to this Torkington was director, group risk information systems for Barclays.
Ron Whatford, managing director of operations at Scottish Widows, says: “Chris brings a broad range of skills and experience, having worked in a variety of commercial environments and will be a tremendous addition to the senior team in operations and more widely to Scottish Widows and the Lloyds TSB group.”
Torkington will join Scottish Widows late July/early August 2004.
