Industry event raises almost £200,000

The 8th Broomstick Ball, held on November 2 at the London Marriott Hotel in Grosvenor Square has raised almost £200,000 for charity.

£191,750 was raised throughout the evening via a spectacular auction, with lots such as a five star sporting break in La Managa, cooking lessons at Leiths School of Food & Wine, and a number of signed football memorabilia goods.

Professor Alex Markham, chief executive of Cancer Research UK attended the event and spoke of the work that the charity does through out the UK. The Broomstick Ball now raises more money for Cancer Research than any other single event in the UK.

Deirdre McManus, head of sales at Bristol & West Mortgages, says:
“Without the support of the sponsors, there wouldn’t have been an 8th
Broomstick Ball, so my thanks go to them. This year we’ve raised almost £200,000 for Cancer Research of which I am extremely proud and grateful to all the guests that came along and put their hands in their pockets. I look forward to welcoming everyone next year to the ninth Broomstick Ball.”
