Death of former broker and AoBP chairman Sidney Cohen

Former Association of Bridging Professionals chairman Sidney Cohen passed away last week.

The popular Cohen began his career as a broker before joining Cheval as director of marketing in 1998, where he remained until 2005 before joining Affirmative Finance.

Most recently, Cohen was acting as consultant for Masthaven.

Cohen was appointed chairman of the AoBP when the bridging trade body was launched in October 2010.

Current AoBP chairman and Brightstar Financial chief executive Rob Jupp says: “Sidney spent almost a lifetime in the short-term finance industry and he was a larger-than-life character with a fantastic sense of humour and fun.

“He will be sorely missed by everyone who had the pleasure to know him over many years.”

Masthaven Finance managing director Andrew Bloom says: “I have had the pleasure of working with Sidney Cohen for the past six years. It has been a privilege to learn so much about the bridging market from a man who has been so intimately involved in the birth and development of what is now such a thriving sector of the lending market.

“All of us at Masthaven will miss him as a colleague and a friend. I would like to pass on my condolences to Sidney’s family on behalf of everyone at Masthaven.”
