DIGGING THE DIRT IN THE MORTGAGE WORLD…

100% FAKE Just to be clear, the screen grab of Mortgage Strategy’s homepage that was emailed to some brokers on April 1 was indeed an April Fool joke.

Lucky recipients will have noted the lead story was headlined ’Ulster Bank to come out with 100% mortgage product for first-time buyers’. If only.

We regret to say this was a forged headline and story. Mole has no idea who knocked-up the bogus homepage but full marks to them for a classic wind-up.

CARRIED AWAY With times so tough in the mortgage market Mole sympathises with the broking community and would never dream of accusing it of being melodramatic when talking about its struggle.

But he has to admit one intermediary went a little over the top with their recent post on Mortgage Strategy Online.

Commenting on the story that the Post Office is to launch a range of mortgages the histrionic reader stated that “this reminds me of the slaughter in Rwanda in the early 1990s, with first-time buyers losing deposits like Tutsis losing arms in frenzied machete attacks”.
Mole isn’t one to judge but thinks a little perspective wouldn’t go amiss.
