Whole loan sale conference

Lending Strategy will have exclusive access to Merrill Lynch’s inaugural whole loan sale conference in London on Friday 16 May, and will report on it in our June issue.

The event to be chaired by Adrian Coles, director-general of the Building Societies Association, aims to bring together loan originators and investors and debate the problems that are freezing the market and how these may be overcome.

The day begins with a macro-economic review presented by Alex Batchvarov, head of Merrill Lynch ABS Research. The session will also review the state of the capital and money markets, investors’ appetite for mortgage-backed securities and investor concerns.

This is followed by a discussion on asset quality in the sub-prime sector and before lunch there will be a session on MSAs covering what to look for and providing a checklist for practitioners.

The afternoon kicks off with a panel session on asset performance that will cover trends and servicing techniques.

Whole loan due diligence is also on the agenda, with Kim Keast of Clayton Eurorisk Management looking at rating system, differences in lender underwriting styles and electronic and manual underwriting systems.
