Parents enquire about properties

Parents looking to invest in properties for their children are generating a new wave of buyer enquiries, says estate agency Cluttons.

The firm is seeing an increasing number of parents considering putting their money into the London property market rather than other types of investment such as the stock market or savings accounts.

Parents with the funds available to pay deposits are looking to take advantage of low house prices and interest rates.

James Hyman, partner for residential sales at Cluttons, says: “We have seen numerous cases of parents making enquiries on behalf of their children in the past few weeks.”

Hyman says parents are looking at either buying homes for their older children to move into immediately or ones for their younger kids to live in when they leave home.
