FROM LEFT: DAVID FINLAY, JOHN BARTLEY AND PETER WILLIAMS AWARDS RECOGNISE EXCELLENCE AMONG BROKERS

Peter Williams and John Bartley are the first brokers to win Mort-gage Strategy and Woolwich’s new Top Of The League competition.

Every month during the football season a panel of judges will pick a Manager of the Month and a Player of the Month, who will be awarded the same trophy given to football players in the Barclays Premier League.

The aim is to reward excellence in the broker community and en-trants are selected based on four criteria – making a company profit-able, helping colleagues excel, helping the local or intermediary community and doing your best for clients.

Woolwich’s BDMs nominated suitable entrants who were whittled down to a shortlist of five names for each award. The winners were selected by four judges – David Fin-lay, intermediary business director at Barclays, Robert Sinclair, direc-tor of the Association of Mortgage Intermediaries, Jonathan Cornell, chairman of the judges panel, and Mortgage Strategy editor Robert Thickett.

August’s Manager of the Month is Peter Williams, director of Southampton-based Simply Fin-ance. The judges described Simply Finance’s performance as stagger-ingly good – it was the fourth largest firm for mortgage production in Q1 2010 at Openwork.

August’s Player of the Month is John Bartley, mortgage adviser at Oval Financial Services.

The judges were impressed by his commitment to charity as well as his service to high net worth clients.
Both winners were presented their awards by Finlay.

Finlay says: “I was delighted with the winners who were picked for our first TOTL prize.

“Both are deserving and have set the standard for those who follow. It was a real pleasure handing over the trophies.”

In addition to the Barclays Premier League Player or Manager of the Month trophy winners will also receive two tickets to watch a Barclays

Premier League team of their choice in addition to an exclusive invite to lunch with a football or manager legend at a top restaurant.
