Kate Jardine, who runs the back office in Dunfermline's commercial lending department will join Tinkerbell, a 26-stone tiger shark, and friends in the main tank at Deep Sea World to help fundraise for a local charity.
Jardine says: “Sharks and my department are quite similar. In both environments, you have to be aware of what is going on around you, operate as part of a team and make sure that you don't disturb the water.”
Joining her in the water are the society's general manager HR Alan Mitchell and the rector of a local high school, whose pupils are betting on the sharks.
Australian Jardine is an accomplished scuba diver but only in the warm waters of her native country's seas, and she realises that the chilly waters of the Firth of Forth are a different proposition. The dive takes place on Friday November 7 in the afternoon. The sharks are fed on Thursdays.
