Retirement Plus has appointed Graham Bignell as senior relationship manager for the South-East.

Bignell has 29 years experience in the mortgage industry and until recently worked as account manager and lifetime specialist for Standard Life, where he was responsible for developing product propositions and coordinating sales campaigns.

Prior to joining Standard Life, he spent 11 years in various roles at Northern Rock, latterly as its home equity release specialist for the Thames South region.

Retirement Plus is the equity release company launched in November last year with the backing of British Land and Delancey.

Fred Paton, head of sales at Retirement Plus, says: We are delighted to welcome Graham to Retirement Plus, and are certain that his knowledge and experience will make a valuable contribution to the team.

The growing demand in equity release that we are seeing, with far more consumers and product providers coming to the market, reinforces our long term business model.
