MPLC bucks trend as it signs up to sponsor 2007 Expos

Mortgages PLC has signed up to sponsor all three Mortgage Business Expos in 2007, going against the trend of major lenders shunning the events.

MPLC will be at the events in Glasgow, Manchester and London and will have its branded truck onsite, as well as sponsoring branded caf矡reas.

Julian Wells, head of marketing at MPLC, says: “These shows have taken the industry by storm in recent years and we see them as a key part of our marketing strategy as we continue to grow our business.

“We believe having a strong presence at these events is essential for companies looking to build or maintain their brand presence in what is a fiercely competitive market.” BM Solutions and Bristol & West recently revealed they will not be participating in this year’s Expos as they don’t consider them to represent value for money.

Platform has also confirmed that it will not be attending the Manchester event this year, although the decision to exhibit in London is still up in the air.

A spokesman for Platform says: “We didn’t get anything out of the Manchester event last year because of poor attendance so it was a waste of time for us. Manchester didn’t work out for us but London did so we might exhibit there again this year.”

GMAC-RFC is in discussion with Clarion Events, organiser of the Expos, about whether or not it will be attending the London event.

A spokeswoman for BM Solutions says: “Every business has to make a decision whether the Expo is right for it. We have looked at the proposition and made our decision according to our situation.”

Daniel Nwaokolo, show director at Clarion, says: “It’s fantastic to have MPLC on board again for the 2007 Expos. The company is a great addition to our shows and we always enjoy working with it.”
