Brokers flock to use SMS system

Solent Mortgage Services says a whopping 4,000 brokers have tapped into its online system The Porthole.

The system produces online agreements in principle, application submissions, case tracking and audit control facilities.

SMS says that the amount of users on the system has tripled since it was launched in 2006.

Ian Balfour, sales and marketing director at SMS, says increasing numbers of brokers are moving away from traditional paper-based methods of administration be-cause they realise online systems can save time and money for themselves and their clients.

He adds: “We took a decision three years ago to invest in developing an online capability that would benefit our partners, both brokers and lenders. That decision has paid off handsomely. We can offer lenders a live link to brokers as soon as we get them on our system.”

SMS was one of the first mortgage distributors to link directly with Kensington Mortgages’ K-link integration system.

Keith Street, director of sales at Kensington, says: “SMS offers us great value through its development of online integration.

“We are not surprised how popular the online system has been and look forward to working with it on further developments.”

While Trump blazes blond in the political foreground, it’s easy to overlook the economic background to the new political dimension of 2017.
