BBG Commercial instructs first valuations through internet exchange

BBG Commercial, a division of SecureMove Property Services, owned by Bradford & Bingley, has become the first company to instruct commercial property valuations through an internet valuation exchange.

Using xit2&#39s valuation exchange the system has been adapted so that BBG Commercial&#39s network of valuers can benefit from the same technology.

The xit2 system allows BBG Commercial to instruct its commercial valuers from its national commercial centre. It says the technology provides BBG Commercial with more control over the process and allows it to track cases in real time by receiving updates from commercial valuers through their branch offices or any means of internet access. BBG Commercial&#39s branches pick up the instructions via the internet removing the need for the installation of additional hardware in the office.

Keith Carr, national commercial valuations director of BBG Commercial, says: “We are delighted with the benefits we receive by using xit2 for instructing our residential property valuations and asked xit2 to develop a solution for our commercial property valuations business to realise the same benefits. This was developed over a period of months and following a successful pilot we rolled out the facility to our BBG Commercial team last month.

“In addition to processing benefits, the online invoicing is saving us time and effort every month by using the same method as our residential process on the xit2 Valuation Exchange.”

Paul Duckworth, managing director of xit2, says: “We have developed a close working relationship with BBG and we were happy to take on this project for it. Adapting the xit2 valuation exchange to deliver commercial property valuations demonstrates the adaptability of the technology and our ongoing commitment to our customers. The commercial market is often incorrectly thought of as being more static in the use of new technology, but this demonstrates how receptive this market is to use the latest systems.

“The Valuation Exchange will improve the speed of instruction, give BBG Commercial more control over the process and deliver robust and immediate management information.”
