PTP opens early to support brokers

Personal Touch Packaging is opening its doors early every morning from now on to accommodate increased demand from brokers.

The packager’s new business desk is now open from 8am to 8pm Monday to Thursday and from 8am to 5pm on Fridays.

PTP says it aims to provide additional support to brokers within a more flexible daily time frame.

The change is in response to high demand and higher volumes towards the end of each working day.

Scott Laughlin, operations director at PTP, says: “We monitor trends in business volumes and a strong pattern has emerged of a surge of applications in the afternoon, particularly towards the early evening.

“We put this down to brokers doing their day-to-day business during normal working hours and submitting cases once they have finished client-facing activities.

He adds: “In response to this trend we decided to adapt to the way that brokers operate, by extending our opening hours to suit them. Intermediaries will find us open for business from 8am till 8pm through the week and 5pm on Fridays.

“We have also grown our new business team by taking on three more staff to accommodate increased demand – in March we had our best month ever, with 700 applications.”

Andy Rowden, director of brokerage The Mortgage Detective, adds: “This is an excellent idea. We often work past 5pm and it will be fantastic to be able to ring up PTP and check something over the phone.

“The nature of specialist lending is that sometimes you need to speak to a person to confirm a query rather than do everything online.”
