Preferred appoints head of legal

Preferred have appointed Ron Simms to the role of head of legal.

Simms reports to the chief operating officer and is responsible for protecting Preferred’s interest in its day-to-day mortgage dealings and ensuring legal compliance across the business. He will work closely with the head of compliance.

Before joining Preferred, Simms spent three years at Nationwide as manager of loan documentation within the commercial division, where he was responsible for overseeing legal due diligence for the company.

Prior to that he was a solicitor in private practice for 11 years, working with a number of clients from the financial services industry including Nationwide, Barclays and Bank of Scotland.

Simms says: “I’m delighted to have joined Preferred: it is a close-knit and innovative team working together in a fast moving environment. I’m looking forward to the challenges that this role offers.”
