Grainger appoints relationship manager

Grainger has appointed Peter Welch as relationship manager for its Newcastle-based team.

Welch joins Grainger from Prudential where he previously worked on, amongst others, global accounts worth more than £1.8bn.

Welch’s new role will focus on Grainger’s strategic relationships with third party organisations including Norwich Union, which currently distributes Grainger’s equity release home reversion plans.

Peter Couch, director of equity release at Grainger, says: “Peter brings a wealth of experience and expertise in relationship management which will prove invaluable to Grainger as we look to expand the business over the next few years.

“With Financial Services Authority regulation now in place, we’re expecting the demand and uptake of home reversion plans to increase steadily over the next few years and it’s essential that we have the right team on board to ensure the public has access to Grainger products.”

Welch says: “This is a very exciting time to come on board at Grainger as the next year will be crucial in the growth of equity release market, in particular for home reversions and the wider retirement solutions market.

“My role is essentially to enable that growth, ensure Grainger’s relationships with existing third party organisations remain strong and of course develop new partnerships.”
