The Mortgage Mole

selfie indulgent He’s back! Just when celebrities thought they were safe, Mortgage Strategy reporter Devraj Ray sparks back into life and goes on a “selfie” bender.

Mole was with Ray and Mortgage Strategy editor Paul Thomas for the Sepsis Ball on 12 September.

Mole hears the Strategy boys were a little surprised to be invited given the guest list, which included award-winning ITN news anchor Mark Austin, journalist Natasha Kaplinsky as well as footy legend Gary Lineker and Mr. Marmite himself, Piers Morgan.

The event was a real success, attended by more than 320 guests and raising a mammoth £30,000 to help build awareness of Sepsis, a preventable illness that takes more than 37,000 lives a year in the UK alone.

Brightstar Financial chief executive Rob Jupp’s wife, Clare, who helped set up the evening, has a personal connection with the trust, having tragically lost her sister to the illness in 2011. And in keeping with his charitable nature, Jupp generously dipped his hand in his pocket at various stages during the charity auction and encouraged others to do so too.

With the night going well, Jupp quizzed Ray on why he had not seen any of the cringeworthy celeb-selfies Ray had become known for in his early days on the magazine.

And with that, Ray spotted Lineker chatting away with Piers Morgan over the other side of the ballroom.

Ray accosted the pair and nabbed himself a couple of awkward shots for our readers (as you can see in the pictures above), as onlookers wondered who this guest-come-paparazzo was.

Embarrassed to his very core, Mole cowered behind the nearest table as Ray walked back with a Cheshire cat-like grin. Be on the lookout, celebs.

He’s coming for you.
