Orchard & Shipman appoints Nye as financial director

Orchard & Shipman, the London and Edinburgh property services group and community housing specialists, has appointed Paul Nye as financial director.

Previously financial director of Dreams plc, the furniture retailer, Nye was responsible for the growth of that business from 13 branches and sales of 4m to over 100 branches with a turnover of 100m.

Chris Shipman, chairman of Orchard & Shipman, says: “Our business has expanded significantly in the last three years with a fivefold growth in turnover to 5.5m, triple the staff numbers, an expanding branch network that includes Scotland and the merger with Campsie & Co. To assist in consolidating this growth and to support our plans for expansion we are delighted to welcome Paul to the board.”

Nye says: “There is a similar basis for expansion and I am particularly attracted by the speed and success with which Orchard & Shipman has diversified into social housing and commercial agency.”

The savvy consumer

In last year’s FCA thematic review of the mortgage market, one of the key things highlighted was the “savvy consumer”. That’s the client who comes in the door with a very clear idea of what they need and expect you to get them it. They don’t think they need advice, they have after all consulted […]
