Homefast seeks partners

Volume conveyancing and remortgaging service Homefast, a recently rebranded division of Sherrards Solicitors, says its priority this year is to form partnerships with a number of mortgage intermediaries and packagers.

The division was renamed earlier this month with the aim of making it a national brand in the conveyancing business, building on the relationships it has established over the past three years with estate agency chains such as Countrywide, Your Move and Halifax.

It says its proposition, based on a fixed fee, no move no fee, seven-day service including web-based case tracking, email and SMS text messaging, helps brokers cut administration costs and generate new income streams.

Last week BDS Mortgage Group, a South Coast-based mortgage packager and distributor, unveiled its conveyancing service in partnership with Homefast.

BDS managing director Phil Jay says: “We want introducers using BDS to have enough information at their fingertips to ensure they can provide their clients with updates at any time.”

BDS joins other Homefast mortgage clients including The Mortgage Operation and Inter-Alliance.

Homefast partner John Brian says: “Our priority this year is to enter into partnerships with mortgage intermediaries and packagers and since the Law Society Referral Code was relaxed we can now pay for introductions.

He adds: “We see mortgage regulation as a great opportunity as we believe it will lead to more consolidation, with a smaller number of firms in bigger groups creating more volume business.”

Brian says that unlike many high street conveyancers Homefast has stringent standards such as aiming to have 85% of its remortgages complete within 28 days.

This year the company is looking for 25% growth on the £3m turnover it generated last year.
