Gay insurance expert invited to join industry working group on HIV

Chris Morgan, editor of Pink, has been invited to join the Association of British Insurers&#39 new working group focusing on HIV and self-responsibility as a consultant.

Over the last 12 months Morgan has contributed heavily to the new best practice guidelines on HIV and Insurance, which are about to be applied to the industry.

Morgan&#39s suggestion of forming a working group on HIV and self-responsibility has been placedat the centre of the ABI &#39s future strategy on HIV and Insurance.

Issues likely to be addressed are HIV testing across all risk groups, questioning over responsible sexual behaviour and new methods to identify those most at risk from HIV.

Speaking about his new role within the group, Morgan says: “I&#39m very proud to have been invited to join the new ABI working group focused on HIV and self-responsibility. The fact that the ABI wish to form this group and appoint a gay man to consult on such sensitive issues is a sign that the industry is beginning to change for the better.”

Morgan adds: “I&#39ve committed myself to the project for next three years with the aim of helping the insurance industry to understand changing sexual attitudes in society. It is important that we understand modern, fair and respectful methods for identifying HIV risk across all groups.”
