Investec appoints ex-Harrods Bank intermediaries boss Izard

Former Harrods Bank head of intermediaries Peter Izard has been appointed business development manager at Investec Private Bank.

He will oversee the development of Investec’s high-net-worth and professional mortgage offering within the broker market, following the £180m sale of its specialist lending arm, Kensington Mortgages.

Izard joins from Harrods Bank, where he had been responsible for growing the bank’s intermediary lending proposition between April and December 2014.

Prior to that, Izard was head of mortgages at Saffron Building Society between October 2012 and April 2014.

He has also worked at Portillion, GMAC-RFC and Intelligent Finance.

Izard says: “I am excited by Investec’s ambitions and look forward to playing my part in continuing its growth and success.”

Investec head of mortgages Jack Jones says: “Peter brings a wealth of experience and will help Investec to increase its profile among intermediaries and grow the business within the high-net-worth and professional mortgage space.”

Harrods Bank has appointed former ECU Group head of banking and intermediary relationships Maria Chapman as an interim replacement for Izard, with a full-time hire to be confirmed soon.

In May 2014, Mortgage Strategy revealed Harrods was planning to break into the broker market. Previously, the bank had lent directly to existing investment customers.

The Mortgage Mole: Danced off the floor

Danced off the floor As the New Year kicked off, Mole thought it only right to call his friends in the mortgage world to see how they had all spent their festive period. On the whole, there were reports of fun with the family, trips abroad to warmer climes and the odd burnt turkey. However, […]
