Connells buys Sequence

Connells has acquired Sequence, the third largest chain of estate agents in the UK, from Royal & Sun Alliance.

Sequence is made up of 12 high profile brands, including William H Brown, Barnard Marcus and Fox & Sons.

Following the acquisition, both Sequence and Connells will be runseparately and will retain their individual brands and branch networks. The combined total of branches will be nearly 500 – resulting in Connells becoming the second largest estate agency group in the UK.

Connells group chief executive Stephen Shipperley says: “I am very excited by the potential this acquisition brings, not only for the future development of Sequence, but also the ongoing expansion of Connells. Sequence is a very sound business with a good history. All of the brands involved are comparable with ours in terms of their strength and local recognition, so there will be no requirement for us to reinvent the wheel – only to improve on its design.”

David Livesey, a long-standing member of the Connells Executive Board, has been appointed chief executive of Sequence.
