Abbey’s staff still got to work in Glasgow despite horrid snow

should like to congratulate Abbey’s Glasgow service centre staff for their dedication during the horrendous weather conditions. I was discussing a case with one of its staff last Wednesday, commenting they must be a bit short-handed due to the weather.

The girl on the phone replied that she had left work at 4pm on Monday, not getting home until 10pm – having walked some 15 of the 20 miles of her journey. Unable to get to work on Tuesday, she set off at 6.30am on Wednesday taking some four hours to get to work. She said it was
-16 degrees when she got in her car that morning.

I think their dedication is to be applauded especially as a buy-to-let processing unit in the South managed only an answerphone message informing callers that it was unable to assist due to lack of staff because of the weather. Well done Abbey.

Gross lending figures for this year are likely to disappoint and we are probably going to have to wait beyond 2011 for any good news in this
regard. And the prize for stating the obvious goes to Bank of England
