Coronation Street actor Michael Le Vell, who plays Kevin Webster in the television soap, is swapping the Rovers Return bar for the boardroom after signing on as a director at Ratio Money.
Le Vell will work for the claims management firm alongside his role in the soap. He believes consumers are being ripped off by financial organisations and wants to do something about it.
The star joins a host of celebrities that have lent their names to financial services firms. In 2005 TV funnyman Nick Hancock joined mortgage brokerage Earth Mortgages for two years and Carol Vorderman has featured in a series of advertisements for now defunct secured lender FirstPlus.
Le Vell says: “I’m delighted to be involved with Ratio. It supports hard-working people when banks and other financial organisations make unreasonable demands and threats.
“I have had first-hand experience of companies trying to mis-sell financial products and know how easy it is to get sucked into unfair agreements.”
Ratio handles cases for consumers who have been mis-sold insurance, incurred excessive bank charges, been drawn into unfair credit agreements or received non-compliant mortgage offers.
