Yousefi quits A&L to join Merrill Lynch

Mehrdad Yousefi has quit his role as head of intermediary mortgages at Alliance & Leicester after an 18-year career with the lender, to join Merrill Lynch.

Mortgage Strategy can exclusively reveal that the announcement was made internally within A&L at 9.30am this morning, though a leaving date is yet to be confirmed.

Yousefi is rumoured to have been appointed sales and distribution director at Freedom Lending, which was acquired by Merrill Lynch last July.

Prior to A&L Yousefi worked for CitiBank for four years during which time he worked in a variety of roles in commercial, corporate and residential lending.

He says: “I have resigned from Alliance & Leicester after more than 18 years and I have been presented with a different opportunity to pursue my career in the intermediary mortgage market.”

He adds: “I’m not leaving A&L until I facilitate an orderly transition to my successor as I want to ensure it continues to prosper in the intermediary market.”
