BUDGET 2007: Chancellor cuts relief on empty commercial properties

The Chancellor is to restrict relief on commercial property lying empty for industrial properties to six months and to three months for retail premises and offices and special exemptions for charities.

The measure is in line with recommendations in the Lyon’s report published today, in order to relieve surplus demand for property in some areas.
