Batchelor pledges continuity

Guy Batchelor says it will be business as usual when he starts in his new role today as executive director of sales and marketing for the UK at Lehman Brothers’ European Mortgage Capital Division.

Batchelor has only been with Lehman Brothers since January. He was franchise development director for Europe and has been in-volved in a strategic review since joining.

In his new role, Batchelor will cover marketing, distribution and sales strategy and operations across all Lehman Brothers’ Mortgage Capital businesses in the UK.

He says: “I am delighted to be off-ered this role. We are already one of the largest sub-prime lenders in the UK and we want to improve our position further .

“I am thoroughly looking forward to getting my teeth into the sales and marketing of all five brands but am not looking to make any major changes straight away.”

Simon Hinshelwood, chief executive officer of the Mortgage Capital business in the UK, says: “I am delighted that Batchelor has agreed to join our UK team and to lead the development and implementation of our marketing and distribution strategy.

“He has already been involved with the UK team from a strategic perspective in his previous role as franchise development director for Europe, so I am confident that as an internal candidate Batchelor can hit the ground running and quickly implement our UK growth plans.”

Batchelor is chairman of the Intermediary Mortgage Lenders Association and an executive member of the Council of Mortgage Lenders.

He worked for nine years at Platform, the intermediary lender of Britannia, where he most recently held the position of sales and marketing director with responsibility for e-commerce, sales and product development.

Over the past 15 years he has held a variety of sales and business development roles in the specialist lending market.
