The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors warns that chimneys could be a thing of the past. New homes do not feature them and many older homes are not maintaining existing ones. John Reyers, spokesman for RICS, says: “There are three things working against them – the focus on energy efficiency, the space and cost implications and the effort of maintaining them.”
