Jailed solicitor struck off by SRA

The Solicitors Regulation Authority has struck off a Birmingham solicitor serving a five-year prison sentence for his role in a £5.2m mortgage fraud.

Kamran Malik, 35, was one of four men arrested in 2010 for fraudulently inflating property values to obtain mortgage finance.

Before his trial at Birmingham Crown Court, Malik was also found to have forced a witness to sign a false testimony.

He was originally sentenced to four years imprisonment in May 2013 at Birmingham Crown Court for money laundering and four counts of mortgage fraud before an additional year was added for perverting the course of justice.
