Nationwide has launched a website to help 14-19 year olds manage their finances.
The site, called Cash Matters, aims to provide clear and accessible information to young people on how to make the most of their money and develop financial independence. It covers issues ranging from the world of work to saving for a rainy day.
The website contains five sections including spending, which comprises of top tips on how to get the best savings and current accounts, what hidden extras to watch out for and how to make online purchases safely; car, which covers topics including buying a car and the different types of insurance; dreams, which highlights financial decision-making needed to realise young people's dreams, whether managing money at university or planning a trip around the world; moving on, which provides information that will be useful when leaving home, and work, which gives information about the world of work and covers issues including pay and tax.
Steve Clode, marketing director at Nationwide, says:”Throughout our lives we have many important financial decisions to make but research shows that many young people often feel bewildered when it comes to finance. This website, packed with jargon-free factual information, aims to help 14-19 year olds make sense of the world of money.”
