Demand forces SWB to close phone lines

Scottish Widows Bank was forced to close its telephone support service last Tuesday due to a deluge of business. The bank is planning to reopen the service today.

It says that every effort has been made to process applications as quickly as possible while maintaining underwriting quality despite the service interruption.

Brokers can check the progress of keyed applications with the lender by using its online tracking system.

The bank says it remains open to new business and mortgage applications, which continue to be made via the SWB website, Mortgage Trading Exchange, Trigold and by post.
