Name Shame

Last week The Sun tracked down Freddie Mackie – nicknamed Freddie Mac – in Glasgow and Fannie May – a vowel short of Fannie Mae – amid the dreaming spires of Cambridge.

Like their namesakes, they have taken a practical approach to combating the dreaded credit crunch. Mackie is a mortgage broker who has had to work an extra 20 hours a week as a debt adviser to maintain his income.

To get some extra cash, May, a retired teacher, has recorded a rock album and sold off five investment properties.

But Mole thinks things could be worse – they could be called Alistair Darling.
