Hamptons welcomes financial capability scheme

Hamptons Mortgages has welcomed the governments financial capability strategy despite the recent shake-up of legal aid.

Jonathan Cornell, technical director at Hamptons Mortgages, says: It is good to see the government promoting a scheme to provide generic financial advice to the public.

This will clearly benefit the less financially astute members of the community and help equip them with the appropriate knowledge to enable them to make the right financial choices in what can be an extremely crowded and confusing market.

Sadly, this is less than a week after the government announced its plans to shake up the legal aid system which would significantly reduce the Citizens Advice Bureaus ability to support exactly the people who this initiative is trying to reach.

However, I think the economy and society as a whole would benefit from an improved generic financial advice service, so this initiative is to be welcomed.
