Coventry offers free legals for Scottish remortgages

The Coventry is offering free or discounted legal packages for the first time for remortgages in Scotland.

The incentive has been a key feature of the societys remortgage products for some time, but due to the different legal system in Scotland this has not been an option for potential Coventry customers north of the border.

The availability of the incentive will depend upon the product selected, which has always been the case for remortgagors in England and Wales.

The society has teamed up exclusively with Walker Laird Solicitors to offer this service. Where a customer doesn’t wish to use the society’s nominated solicitor, 200 cashback is available as an alternative.

Colin Franklin, head of sales at the Coventry, says: “The Scottish market is increasing in importance to us as we seek to grow our customer base and in December last year we improved our representation in Scotland through the recruitment of a dedicated intermediary sales consultant.

The introduction of this additional feature for customers in Scotland is also in response to feedback from our introducer contacts to help them offer a better deal for their clients.

We are starting to get more direct enquiries from Scottish applicants by telephone and through our recently rebranded website – this new service can only enhance and expand our business in Scotland.
