Letter casting slurs on Gambians was an ill-informed one

Letters to the editor

I was interested to read the letter in the November 29 issue of Mortgage Strategy entitled ’Simon White has painted the wrong picture of Gambia’ which criticised a recent article in which he gave a positive impression of Gambia.

In particular the author of the letter described White’s claim that Muslims and Christians inter-marry was a fantasy, and heavily criticised bumpsters – the young men who sell themselves to middle-aged women – and the country’s government.

How uninformed and uneducated the letter was. I am a Christian Gambian who has been married to a Muslim for 10 years. Bumpsters are harmless and are only around the main three areas.
And in terms of politics, all I can say is look at your own country.
