Shoosmiths continues to expand finance team

National law firm Shoosmiths has boosted its finance team with the appointment of two regulatory compliance experts.

Mike Moloney, former legal director at First National Motor Finance and Phillip Catchpole, formerly of First National Bank and GE Consumer Finance, will be based at the firm’s Milton Keynes office – although their work will be undertaken on a national basis.

They will complement the firm’s existing strength in finance litigation and will assist clients who require advice on consumer credit, especially retail and motor finance and the sale of mortgage and general insurance products.

Sebastian Price, head of Shoosmiths’ non-contentious finance team, says: “The firm has historical strength in the finance sector, particularly in finance litigation and collections.

“Regulatory advice is now extremely important as mortgages and insurance become regulated by the
Financial Services Authority for the first time and we are delighted to have Moloney and Catchpole on board to provide advice to our financial services clients.”
