Launch DB Countdown

Lisa Pearce joins the team, the Mortgage Brain roadshow in Norwich goes well, plans are made to expand packager distribution and I draw Brazil in the office sweep, says Bill Dudgeon

Monday Another new starter joins us today. Lisa Pearce joins the product team and will be looking after pricing and forecasting. Luckily it was not as traumatic for Lisa as it was for Neil Loader who doused himself in coffee within five minutes of starting work. It was obviously the excitement of working with us.

Tuesday Another beauty parade with an insurer in the morning followed by a meeting with a corporate finance company from Manchester in the afternoon. The staff receive a bit of light relief when a promotional gift company delivers its latest catalogue along with some examples. It is astonishing how this affects the staff as they clamour for the freebies.

Eddie Kelly and Peter Kouset attend the Mortgage Brain roadshow in Norwich with an instruction from Gini to make sure they taste the tiramisu. The attendance was good and a lot of interest was shown in the products we have to offer. It seems the expansion of our packager distribution can’t happen quickly enough.

Wednesday We start to send out some contracts in advance of expanding our packager distribution. This will be followed by emails to facilitate user registration in packagers’ offices. Decision in principle and application volumes are on schedule. Our first completion customer receives a complimentary Porter and Woodman hamper from us. It’s a pity we can’t do this for all customers but budgets don’t stretch that far.

Thursday The draw takes place for the DB Mortgages’ World Cup sweep. I get Brazil while Dave Parry gets Trinidad & Tobago and is ecstatic as he thinks he’s got two teams for his 1.

Friday It is another dress down day today and the charity to benefit will be Cancer Research UK. I’m glad there were no work nights out this week so I won’t suffer too much over the weekend. The weather forecast is sunny so it’s off to the golf course to try and get some practice in before the next hospitality golf day.
