Give estate agents a taste of their own medicine

From Jim Gillespie

I sympathise with Terry Phillips (Mortgage Strategy October 27) and his experience at the hands of unscrupulous local estate agents. No doubt we have all come across similar examples of this bad practice in our own towns.

In fact, in 2000 I was so fed up that I decided to do something about it. I set up a DIY property sales company that has proven so successful locally that I am now expanding it UK-wide.

The Property Supermarket is a company which assists the public in buying and selling property without using an estate agent.

All my company&#39s local agents are mortgage brokers/financial advisers. We currently have over 50 agents in various locations throughout the UK and aim to expand this to over 400 within the next 18 months.

Now, not only do I regularly write mortgage business that I would ordinarily have lost to other estate agents mortgage advisers, but I also pinch house sales from them as well.

Take a leaf out of my book Terry and give them a taste of their own medicine. I can assure you that they don&#39t like it.
