The AA is set to enter the mortgage market in the third quarter, likely under the name ‘The AA Mortgages’.
The AA registered the trademark of ‘The AA Mortgages’ last week, according to Intellectual Property Office documents.
Last July the AA said it would launch an AA-branded mortgage product in the second quarter of 2016.
However, an AA spokesman says the firm is still waiting to get regulatory approval.
He says: “It’s just taken time to get that regulatory authorisation. It’s taken longer than expected, so it’s likely going to be in the third quarter.”
The AA spokesman could not give more details about the nature of the launch.
The loans will be backed by the Bank of Ireland.
A Bank of Ireland spokeswoman would not comment.
