UK inflation rises to 1.9%

Data out from the Office for National Statistics shows the Consumer Price Index rose for the second month in a row, from 1.5% in October to 1.9% in November.

The Retail Price Index rose to 0.3% in November, compared to a fall in October of -0.8%, RPI fell to a low of 1.6% in June 2009, before holding around the -1.4% mark.

The last time there was an increase in the annual inflation rate greater than 1.1% was between March and April 1990, when the rate increased from 8.1% to 9.4%.
