Towergate is good for small businesses with big ideas
Many see this model as being detrimental to the insurance sector, asserting that it removes individuality and niche players from the market.
But having recently been acquired by Towergate, I now feel qualified to advocate the business benefits of such partnerships.
Towergate is a broker's best friend. It provides a platform for increasing success, access to expertise that would not previously have been available, opens up a wider and more level playing field when it comes to markets and insurers, and offers the resources that can help businesses prosper.
The individual nature of my business is not being eroded - if anything, its distinctive character will develop.
I see Towergate as a centre of excellence for leading players in niche sectors and know the professionals who come under its wing are treated as entrepreneurial partners rather than employees.
During the acquisition process, we agreed a mutually convenient timeframe to complete the deal. This plan was adhered to, deadlines were met and communication between the two firms was excellent throughout.
All aspects of the acquisition ran like clockwork and Towergate has de-livered on everything it promised.
It has purchased more than 130 specialist insurance businesses, allowing us Davids to become part of a market Goliath and enjoy the benefits that have long been enjoyed by our larger counterparts.
