Santander UK names banking chief

Nici Audhlam-Gardiner has become director of banking for Santander UK. She was formerly director of mort-gages for the Santander UK brands of Abbey and Alliance & Leicester.

Audhlam-Gardiner joined Abbey from Lloyds TSB in 2006.

Replacing her as director of mortgages is Phil Cliff, formerly the lender’s dir-ector of commercial product management.

Cliff joined Abbey in 2000 and will be responsible for mortgage marketing across both the retail and intermediary businesses.

Cliff says: “This year offers up a great opportunity to strengthen our position in the mortgage market and I am relishing the challenge of
continuing to develop our proposition to the benefit of our customers and to the intermediary community.”

Both Cliff and Audhlam-Gardiner take up their roles immediately.

Santander started the rebranding of its Abbey and Bradford & Bingley branches last week. Some 300 branches in the South-East were renamed last Monday, with another 700 across the UK to be completed by the end of January.
