Reshuffle at Santander's mortgage division

Nici Audhlam-Gardiner, director of mortgages for the Santander UK brands of Abbey and Alliance & Leicester, has left her role to take up a new position at the lender as director of banking.

Audhlam-Gardiner joined Abbey from Lloyds TSB in 2006.

Replacing her as director of mortgages will be Phil Cliff, formerly the lender’s director of commercial product management.

Cliff joined Abbey in 2000 and will be responsible for mortgage marketing across both the retail and intermediary businesses.

Phil Cliff, director of mortgages at Santander UK, says: “This year offers up a great opportunity to strengthen our position in the mortgage market and I am relishing the challenge of continuing to develop our proposition to the benefit of our customers and the intermediary community.”

Both Cliff and Audhlam-Gardiner take up their new roles with immediate effect.

  • Is it too much to hope that the deporable service they provide to intermediaries may improve?

  • Typical, another anon posting slagging of the Abbey, 95 times out of 100 they are pretty good if you tick all the boxes and send them what they ask for quickly, they have been there for us in the last three years when many lenders almost shut up shop, so, withdraw from the Abbey panel and then you won't have to put up with their service.
