MMR: Non-bank lenders could face more regulation

The Financial Services Authority is considering imposing further regulation to high-risk lenders.

It says the market has seen that non-banks, in particular, can easily enter the market in an upswing and exit in a downswing, and thus exacerbate the pro-cyclicality of the market.

Its paper says: “We therefore discuss whether there is a case for regulatory proposals specific to high-risk lenders.”
